Georgia Train, previously known as the lead singer of Bitter Ruin and songwriter for Kaiser Chiefs announces 10 track concept album “I do” to drop 1st May with zero single releases and, instead, a series of post release track-by-track commentaries.
This will see Georgia’s debut solo album and work as a pianist and producer and she tells us to expect “soaring harmonies and soundtrack worthy crescendos. It is as intimate as it is dramatic, and would suit the rolling credits of any film.”
The 10 tracks were recorded in isolation in Georgia’s home studio across the first 10 days of the Coronavirus lockdown in the UK, some being written and recorded on the same day, others written years before. The inspiration, Georgia says, comes from a fresh landscape surrounding her in her new home in rural Sussex in comparison to the bleak and misty days on her home town Brighton’s pebbled beach.
Sonically you might hear leanings towards the Great American Songbook and old Disney Soundtracks, Bambi or Snow White, but you’ll also sense something much darker, at times tongue in cheek, but often irrefutably sad.
Georgia tells us that she wasn’t interested in making an accessible album, but more something beautiful. “I do” repositions her as a one-woman music making machine.
